Forgive Yourself First
27 July 2026
You cannot build a new beginning on a foundation of self-blame. Forgiveness is where the rebuilding starts.
We are quick to forgive other people and slow to forgive ourselves. We carry old mistakes around like proof of who we are, and then we wonder why we feel heavy.
Guilt is a signal, not a sentence Guilt is useful for about a minute. It tells you something mattered. After that, it turns into a weight that helps no one, least of all the people you hurt. Owning a mistake and punishing yourself for it are not the same thing.
A new beginning needs a clean floor You cannot start again while you are still holding the last version of yourself on trial. Forgiveness is not forgetting. It is deciding that the lesson can stay and the sentence can go. That is the moment the new chapter actually begins.
